If this happens to you, don’t panic.
You can still get your car going.

To unlock the driver door and get in, retrieve the door key inside the fob.

Depending on which key fob you have, you either get the key from inside the fob. For old fob.

Use finger nail or other to slide little retainer clip and open back of key fob.

Once the back is off you will find this key inside.

For new fob, the key inserts in the fob at the bottom. Push the retainer button next to the key ring hole and pull the key out.

Once you have either key, stick it in small opening under the lock cap behind driver door handle.
Push up gently in the opening to unlock the cap.
With other hand, hold cap and gently slide backward to get it off.

You will now see a generic looking key cylindre next to door handle. Use the key to unlock it.

Once inside the car, you now have to place the key in a designated slot for the computer to read it even though the battery inside is dead.

This slot is at the bottom of the rear cup holder in the middle console, under the little rubber bottom.
There is a little tab to pull the rubber bottom up.
You can remove it or twist it out of the way.
Place the key in the slot with the buttons facing forward.

The car will now recognize the key and you can start the car.

If you’re lucky or blessed with good dexterity, you will get this all done before the zombies get you.
