New vs Old

what would you rather? original old school American muscle or current state of the art high tech revving machines.
its a tough call for me as i like em all, but i guess the era i grew up in is my soft spot.

not a big fan of the new Top Gear since Clarkson got canned and May and Hammond left. but i still watch the episodes.
this one was done good.

Best of both world...

Obviously by the car I own I like modern tech.
It will do things no old Mustang could dream of.

That said, I love the old stuff, but I don't want original.
If you get original you can't touch it.
I want the old look, with better steering, brakes and handling.
I could live with carb engine, but would prefer that to even be modern.

For me so many Mustangs I like and want, So little time and money LOL.

Good taste Harry. You have good formula.
My version would be either a '67 or '68 vintage.
But I would do a bad ass crate engine with big cams and loud exhaust instead of Coyote.
No radio.
And because these have the cool functional window vents, no AC.
Winters long enough around here.
I want to taste, hear, smell and feel summer when I'm driving my Mustang.
I would call it air cooled. The hotter it gets, the faster you go.

Good thread.
I love the old cars restomoded with modern brakes, handling and reliable power but retaining old school character.
Something like what DSE (Detroit Speed & Engineering) is capable of putting together.
Or something like this example from Ring brothers. They call it "SplitR"

But I can't afford these six figure builds so I went slightly the other way with my car.
I started with pretty modern 2006 GT. Good platform to start with.
Live axle for character. EFI for driveability.
I added a bunch of go fast and suspension parts for good measure. Beefed up brakes too.
I "retromoded" with big cams and long tubes for attitude.
A few appearance pieces such as flush mount louvers, bucket headlights and '67-'68 retro hood.
More old school character by deleting AC. Good weight savings too.
I want to delete radio and all speakers along with windshield washer reservoir this coming summer.
Want to dump more weight and I never listen to radio when I can listen to exhaust note.
Never use windshield washer because it messes up the paint.
I wish an aftermarket company would come up with a functional vent window for the S-197.
That would be the crowning piece.

Result so far.

I like the look, even the paint scheme is cool.
I would likely paint it slightly different, but its got
all the modern day goodies, with old school looks :)

yes, Old school looks and modern suspension, brakes, and motor. thats what im liking. like you Marc, thats why i got the s197 style, but a real oldie would be nice with the modern touches
